3 May. Bistritz.__Left Munich at 8:35 P.M, on 1st May, arriving at Vienna early next morning; should have arrived at 6:46, but train was an hour late.

سوم ماه مه، شهر (بيست ريتز) در ساعت 30/8 شب شب يكم ماه مه، مونيخ را ترك كردم و بامداد روز بعد به (وين) رسيدم . ميبايست ساعت 46/6 ميرسيدم ولي قطار يك ساعت تاخير داشت.

 Buda-Pesth seems a wonderful place, from the glimpse which I got of it from the train and the little I could walk through the streets.

با نگاهي اجمالي كه از قطار به اطراف انداخته بودم و مقدار اندكي كه در خيابانها قدم زده بودم فهميدم كه (بودا پست) شهر بسيار جالبي بايد باشد.

 I feared to go very far from the station, as we had arrived late and would start as near the correct time as possible.

از اينكه از ايستگاه قطار خيلي دور شوم ترسيدم چون ما خودمان دير رسيده بوديم و امكان داشت كه قطار در اولين زمان مناسب كه بتواند حركت كند. ـ و من جا بمانم ـ.

در اين شهر توقف كردم تا شب را در هتل (رويال) بمانم. براي شام يا بهتر بگويم غذاي سبك قبل از خواب ، جوجه اي كه يك جورائي با فلفل قرمز عمل آمده بود خوردم كه خيلي خوشمزه بود اما موجب تشنگي من شد.

از پيشخدمت پرسيدم و او گفت كه نام اين غذا (پاپريكا هندل) است و اضافه كرد كه چون اين يك غذاي ملي و سنتي است من ميتوانم در امتداد ناحيه (كارپاتين) هرجا كه خواستم اين غذا را تهيه كنم.
I found my smattering of German very useful here, indeed, I don't know how I should be able to get on without it.

من متوجه شدم كه آلماني دست و پا شكسته اي را كه بلد بودم خيلي بدردم خورد و صد البته كه نميدانم بدون آن چگونه ميتوانستم كارم را جلو ببرم.

با زماني كه در مدت اقامتم در لندن در اختيار داشتم يك سر به موزه بريتانيا رفته بودم و در كتابها و نقشه هائي كه مربوط به كشور (ترانسيلوانيا) جستجو كرده بودم . در ذهنم بود كه به ندرت پيش مي آيد كه داشتن مقداري آگاهي قبلي در مورد برخورد با نجيب زاده اي از آن كشور به درد نخورد. ـ از اهميتي برخوردار نباشد.
